Summer has been a little slow to arrive, but even without the sun we had a great 4th of July Celebration. Due to the cool day, the pool temperature was raised a couple degrees so we had many happy swimmers all day long. Thank you to our great activities team who created a really fun event. Over 200 pieces of chicken and many hotdogs were grilled up! We also had a variety of salads, chips and many yummy desserts. It all looked wonderful and was delicious! Shorecrest residents seemed to enjoy the food, neighbors and fun music that was provided by local band “Fun Times – Five” who did a great job. Thanks again to those who help to keep these events going!

It was a cool Memorial Day weekend, but after a rainy Saturday the pool opened on Sunday. The pool is heated, so we had lots of swimmers all day! Monday, Memorial Day, the activity committee hosted a Chili Cook off at the pool and clubhouse. Seven activity members made chili and invited Shorecrest residents to come sample and vote for their favorite chili. Everyone seemed to enjoy being a part of the voting process, many adding notes or rating the chili’s beyond voting for their overall favorite. Volunteers also made homemade cookies and brownies for the event. The winner of the Chili cook off was #1 “A little of this, a little of that” made by Jennifer Cunan. Congratulations Jenn on your win! A big thank you to those who made chili, cookies/brownies, and helped pull it all together!

We had a very successful experience with our free neighborhood cleanup. We filled up 2 dumpsters, 2 trailers and 2 trucks within 3 hours on Saturday. We had 75 loads of trash unloaded. We ended up having to turn away some people after everything was filled up. Thanks to Craig, Elliot, Mike and Greg for helping people unload their vehicles.
Our Shorecrest friends and neighbors seemed to have enjoyed the return of our outdoor events this spring and summer. The pool parties were so fun with the weather perfect and Shorefest did not disappoint as we witnessed brave young souls slippin’ down the water slide. That is when they weren’t busy checking out our new playground equipment or beating those cute pinatas. Thank-you to the wonderful volunteers here in Shorecrest who donated so much time and energy to our activities. We have many talented neighbors
