Board Meeting Minutes - July 8, 2023
Shorecrest Board Meeting
July 8th, 2023
Meeting called to order by Mike Jacobson
Roll call: Joanne Krieger, Craig Larsen, Mike Jacobson, Lou Maggi
Talked about Ken’s health and what is happening with him. His house will be sold, and he won’t be coming back due to his health.
Minutes from our last meeting have been posted n our website. Yard sale and bake sale a great success. Our 4th of July event was a great success also.
Need to replace blinds in the office, Elliott to take care of.
Treasures report - Copy of report available upon request at office.
Office Managers report – Copy of report available upon request at office. 20 property sales in the last 2 months. A couple of builders have been buying up properties, clearing them, putting manufactured homes on them and selling them in about 60 days. Bringing in a lot of new people and families. Sent out 278 late notices, 9 letters of intent to lien and 4 properties having liens put upon them. Talked to the bank about having a credit card machine for payments of dues. Talked about the cost and the added fee we would have to apply. The fee per transaction would be $10.00, so not bad if it is once a year for convenience but if you have to do it quarterly that’s an added $40.00 a year. We still have some questions to discuss at a further date. About 50% of owners pay quarterly.
Maintenance report – Elliott talked about solar panels installed at the carport. Post was replaced by the pool lady’s bathroom. May need to replace facia board in that area. Electrical boxes worked on by the pool fence. Took way more time than expected. Elliott and Lou discovered some errors in the initial installation and had to take care of the safety issue. When the pool is drained in the fall there needs to be more work done in this area. Elliott requested the purchase of a Sawzall. He is to get pricing and the board to approve.
Pool report – Teresa met one of our new owners on the 4th of July event that said he could be a second source of help regarding the pool. We have had 3,500 swimmers so far this year. Great turnout.
Carolynne brought up one more thing. One of our pool attendants, Katy, has received a Scholastic scholarship. Carolynne thought it would be nice to give her a $100 bonus to help her in her endeavor at school. Board approved.
Architectural Committee – Elliott said he has sent out 3 third time letters and 1 fourth time notice. Keeping up on the problem issues.
Mason County total Burn Ban. Need to post on our website.
Planning Committee – Marcia talked about the yard sale. We had 8 tables set up in the picnic area. Everyone seemed to sell a lot of things and it seemed to be a success. We brought in $300 from the bake sale with all goodies being donated by a lot of residents. Thanks to all that helped. Then we made another $200 from our raffle at the yard sale and another $100 from our 4th of July party. So we have $600 to go toward a new stove at the clubhouse. Lou and Kim said they would put in $50 toward the new stove. Thank you, Lou and Kim.
4th of July event a great time. We had 244 pieces of chicken and 100 polish sausages and all, but a few chicken wings were gone by 2:00… We ran out of salads and other side dishes. What a great turnout and a lot of new faces. Music was good too. August 12th will be our big Shorefest party. More information to come.
Old Business – Mason County Journal had a large article about the Taylor Shellfish proposal. They showed exactly where it will be. There are a lot of supporters including the Tribe, Yacht club and the small shellfish growers. They actually say it would help our environment. More to come at the meeting on August 9th.
New Business - Nothing brought up
