Shorecrest Board Meeting notes
October 8, 2022
By: Janet Martini
Call to order
Roll Call: Mike Jacobson, Ken Shelton, Janet Martini, Tracey McGlothlin, Joanna Krieger, Craig Larsen
Maintenance and Architectural Committee: Elliott Pridmore
Pool Manager: Teresa Holcomb
Office Manager: Carolynne Brown
Mike talked about all the improvements that we will have to make such as pool, roofs and stairs at the park. These are things we are going to have to consider in our December budget meeting. There will also be pay raises due to the inflation. We will have to consider raising our yearly dues since we haven’t done so in 4 years or so. Inflation has affected our every day running costs. This will be addressed at our budget meeting also.
Minutes from September meeting had been approved at the meeting and will be posted on our website. Copies available to anyone.
Treasurers Report given by Tracey McGlothlin. Copy available at request.
Office Managers Report given by Carolynne Brown. Copy available at request.
Carolynne has been working hard on the joint HOA meeting we are having with 11 different communities on Oct. 15th. Again, this is for board members only as we are expecting over 40 people in attendance with just board members. We will summarize the meeting for the members after correlation of the information we acquire at the meeting. Carolynne drove around and talked to a few new owners with new construction to make sure they have permits in order.
Maintenance report given by Elliott Pridmore.
Elliott has been working hard getting the area designated for our new carport ready. This is located on the lot with our Community Garden. He created a nice area for composting for the garden also. Elliott also made some improvements at the park. He has made a larger area for turning around and was going to add some gravel today to keep it from being so muddy. We also talked about the stairs and the railing. Someone broke off part of the railing. We will talk about a more permanent solution there at our budget meeting but he is going to do a repair on what is there for now.
Pool Report given by Teresa Holcomb.
Pool will be closing for the season tomorrow, Oct. 9th. We had over 4,500 people use the pool over the summer which is way over normal for us but the season was a little longer this year. Teresa has made $1,000 on her sales of food and wants to plan a Halloween party for kinds 16 and under. Betsy and Mike to help chaperone. This would be held the Saturday before Halloween the 29th. Kids are excited and are already getting costumes for the event. Should spend about $300 on the party. Teresa also wants to redo the flower pots by the pool as they are pretty old. Betsy and Mike are working on the Adirondack chairs and tables for the new season next summer. They will work with Carolynne to handle the costs involved.
Architectural Committee report by Mike Jacobson. Progress being made. We sent out 10 letters to people not in compliance and we actually had 8 people respond and are working on the issues in the letters they received. Keeping on top of things is the key.
Activities Committee report by Mike Jacobson. Not much to report. We will not be doing a large Thanksgiving dinner. We talked about maybe focusing on maybe things for kids and maybe more with the lady’s dinner nights. We would like to keep our neighborhood kids busy so they don’t get bored and get into mischief. This will be addressed at a later time.
Old business:
Biggest thing going is our Community HOA meeting on Oct. 15th. Craig went over the subjects to be talked about and what we want to get out of this meeting. A copy of our agenda is available if anyone would like it but again this meeting is for board members only. Our findings will be made available at a later date.
New business:
Betsy brought up the question about quiet time and our by-laws state after 10:00 PM should be quiet time. Talked a little bit about speeding cars coming up Parkway. It is a county road so maybe that’s something we could talk about at our Community HOA meeting. Touched a little bit about people using our showers by the pool for regular showers and our rules and regulations state they can be used by anyone owning property in Shorecrest.
Meeting adjourned.
